Bonaire's accommodation market looks nothing like Aruba's. There are no large all inclusive beach mega-resorts, no high rise hotel strips and no casino hotels dominating the waterfront. What Bonaire has instead is a range of smaller dive-focused resorts, boutique hotels, apartment complexes and guesthouses - most clustered around Kralendijk on the west coast, some in the quieter Belnem area to the south and one genuinely unique option at Sorobon on the east coast for kitesurfers and windsurfers.
Choosing where to stay in Bonaire is a different decision from choosing a resort in Aruba. Kralendijk
The capital and main town. Most restaurants, supermarkets, dive shops and the waterfront are all here. Staying in Kralendijk means walking distance to the Divi Flamingo's Bari Reef - one of the most accessible shore dive and snorkel sites on the island - and easy access to the harbor for Klein Bonaire water taxis. Best for first-time visitors who want convenience and access to town amenities.
Belnem
The residential and resort area immediately south of Kralendijk along the coast. Quieter than town, most properties here have direct or very easy water access and several of the island's highest rated boutique hotels are located here. A short drive or bike ride to Kralendijk. Best for couples, divers who want a quieter base and travelers who prefer boutique over resort.
Hato

Playa

Sorobon / Lac Bay
